Mission

Its mission, as a government agency for social and economic change among people of limited means who are considered the most vulnerable to global changes is:

 
Objectives
 
To pursue its mission effectively it has set the following objectives:
To improve constantly the supervisory and developmental capacity of the Department to meet with institutional changes and operational growth of societies .

To transform as needed the professional image of the Department towards an effective service provider and regulatory authority.

To facilitate and encourage the gradual re-organisation and upgrading of registered Societies when and as needed for purposes of capital strengthening and improved services to their members at the most reasonable cost.

To influence and assist in the restructuring and revival of Apex Co-operative bodies that would further enhance the development of the Co-operative Movement, locally

To provide clear and valuable advise and guidance to the membership and officials of co-operative societies and all users of its services.

To contribute adequately to the educational and proficiency status of persons within the co-operative societies for developing a cadre of knowledgeable membership and an appropriately trained and skilful personnel which will cater to the safety and soundness of its operations, protection of the co-operative character of societies and provide for the needs of members.
